Our Leadership Guides have the most critical role in delivering GuideStar, Inc.’s intellectual property and facilitating the development of each client company’s organizational purpose, culture, and leadership team. They are accomplished facilitators who deliver Character-based Capitalism© programs and build long-term relationships with our clients, helping them identify and overcome issues that interfere with business development and growth.

Barbara Morton Sergi

Experience: Over 22 years in public and private sectors, serving individuals and small to large organizations, including non-profits, public schools, start-ups and municipal government.

Expertise: Organizational leadership and development, management, executive leadership coaching, organizational re-design and strategic action planning/implementation.

Education: Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Wartburg College, a Masters of Public Affairs from Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs-University of Minnesota, and Graduate Studies in Contemplative Spirituality from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary.

Other: As a lifelong learner Barbara immersed herself in cross-cultural experiences to strengthen her understanding of social and cultural influences on complex human systems including: Nigeria, Africa, Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Sioux, South Dakota, and Southern Appalachia Region, US.

Ed E. Montoya

Experience: Over 40 years in public and private sectors, large to small organizations, non-profit organizations, and municipal government.

Expertise: Organizational leadership and development, product and project management, strategic planning, negotiations, and technical sales.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications Management (Cum Laude) from DeVry Institute of Technology, Master of Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University, and Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership (ABD), University of Phoenix

Other: Ed is a Navy Veteran. He is Lead Faculty Area Chair for the College of Humanities and Sciences, University of Phoenix Chicago Campus, Ed supervises over 40 faculty and ensures they have the resources to capably manage all aspects of classroom and student facilitation to meet Student Learning Objectives.

Brenda M. Rodriquez

Experience: U.S. Navy veteran with over 15 years in public and private sectors, from large to small organizations, including non- profit organizations and federal and state government.

Expertise: Organizational leadership and development, strategic planning, management, learning design and change management, and executive and team coaching. Brenda is proficient in Arabic and Russian.

Education: Bachelor of Arts from the University of Chicago, a Masters of Public Administration, University of Oklahoma, and a Doctor of Political Science (ABD) from the University of Colorado.

Other: In addition to being a Leadership Guide, Brenda also serves as Chief Knowledge Officer
part-time through which she influences the ongoing development and delivery of intellectual property as well as the competencies of the Guide teams.

Jamie L. Sidwell

Experience: Over 24 years’ experience performing leadership roles in the private and not-for- profit sectors working with the manufacturing, logistics, and medical industries.

Expertise: Leadership development, facilitation, team building, recruiting, career consultation, management, training, and event planning.

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Communications from Eastern Illinois University.

Other: At Jamie’s core, is a mission is to help others become a little better each day. She guides individuals and teams enabling them to reach their ultimate goals by tackling common obstacles to success.
